Dr M Singh
Dr Singh is a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry. In the NHS, she is responsible for provision of long term care for over 250 patients with severe and enduring mental illnesses with complex social and interpersonal issues. She holds Accreditation in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability and has worked for 4 years as a Consultant in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability. She has provided reports and assessment of patients with learning disability regarding capacity to consent for medical procedures and ability to manage finances. She has experience to provide expert reports for both civil and criminal cases and tribunals. She is routinely called as an Expert Witness to assist Courts in passing orders.
Dr Singh holds a Primary Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and her training as Special Interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry she uses cognitive and behavioural techniques to manage a wide range of disorders including neurotic, affective and eating disorders.
During her work in Child Psychiatry and Learning Disabilities, family involvement was nearly always necessary during the assessment and treatment process. Dr Singh engaged in both alone and with other disciplines that had formal Family Therapy training.
Dr Singh works with challenging group of patients resulting usually from treatment resistant psychosis and negative symptoms. Her management plan comprised of medication review, optimisation of strengths which patients had, behavioural management, career support and use of Community Services.
Dr Singh additional qualifications in Addictive Behaviour helps her to understand and treat appropriately patients with dual diagnosis that is with substance misuse and mental illness.
